ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – IDWALA

Idwala Industrial Holdings (PTY) Ltd is a certified BEE Company, whose long history in mining and processing, dates back to the 1950’s when Anglo Alpha purchased the Carbonates operation.

Idwala Lime, located near Danielskuil in the Northern Cape, holds high-grade Calcitic Limestone and is Idwala’s largest mining and processing operation.

Idwala is part of the Bud Group, whose other member companies include: Ferro, FFS Refiners, Cerebos, CJP Chemicals, NCP Chlorchem, Walvis Bay Salt Holdings and Botswana Ash.

ABOUT THE IDWALA BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Idwala Lime, a division of Idwala Industrial Holdings, is inviting students to apply for the Idwala Lime Community Bursary Programme, for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded to students residing near Danielskuil (Northern Cape), for undergraduate studies within core disciplines, including but not limited to:

  • Chemistry
  • Engineering
  • Mining

 

 

MORE ABOUT THE IDWALA BURSARY PROGRAMME

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, book allowance, as well as meals and accommodation, depending on availability of funds.

Bursary recipients will be selected based on 2 main criteria: financial need and academic potential.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE IDWALA BURSARY PROGRAMME

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must reside within a 200km radius of Danielskuil, in the Northern Cape province
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must have passed all subjects in Matric and have achieved a minimum result of 60% for all major subjects in Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification within a core discipline, as listed above
  • You must be studying or registered to study at a recognised and accredited public University or Technical College in South Africa (the bursary will NOT cover studies at private institutions)
  • You must be willing to work and excel in the specialised discipline of study
  • You must be a top-performing student
  • Preference will be given to applicants from designated groups

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE IDWALA BURSARY PROGRAMME

Download and complete the Idwala Lime Bursary Application Form 2026 (.pdf)

Submit clear copies of the following documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate
  • 2025 academic results
  • Proof of enrolment or acceptance at a tertiary institution
  • Parents or guardians proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ proof of pension or grant if applicable)
  • Affidavit if student does not have one or both parents
  • Proof of residence
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivational letter (read our tips on how to write a motivational letter for your bursary application)
  • Disclosure of other any sources of financial support, if applicable
