Host Community Requirements
Preference is for applicants from the identified South Deep host communities. Applicants can qualify as a host-community candidate if they either:
- Live in Bekkersdaal
- Live in Zuurberkom
- Live in Thusanang

- Live in Poortjie
- Live in Simunye
- Live in Kalbasfontein
- Live in Jachtfontein
- Successfully completed Grade 12/Matric at a school located within one of the listed host communities.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent N3 qualification with two languages passed
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a mining operation
- Must be declared medically fit for the position and working environment
- Must pass the required Heat Tolerance Screening test
- Must successfully complete any additional assessments required to determine suitability

- Follow all health and safety rules and regulations applicable to the mine.
- Undergo technical training prescribed by MQA/DMRE.
- Maintain consistent performance during technical evaluations.
- Take responsibility for personal career development.
- Participate in developmental discussions and seek feedback.
- Engage with the HRD and technical oversight teams.
- Follow company policies, employment conditions, and the code of conduct.
- Promote teamwork and contribute effectively as a team member.
- Apply safe working practices in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
- Identify, report, and escalate safety, health, environmental, and risk-related conditions.
- Participate in risk assessments with artisans.
- Assist artisans with daily maintenance activities.
- Handle, clean, and store tools safely.
- Maintain good housekeeping in workshops, maintenance areas, and surrounding plant areas.
- Report hazards or risks that could affect fellow employees.
- Perform standby duties when required.
