Minimum Requirements
Applicants for the Engineering Learnerships must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- Matric with Mathematics, not Mathematics Literacy, Physical Science and English, with at least 40% in each subject; OR
- N2 or higher with the subjects relevant to the selected trade; OR
- NCV Level 4 in an appropriate trade, with all subjects passed at a minimum of 40%.
For the different disciplines, the required N2 subjects include:
- Boilermaker Plater: Plating & Structural Steelwork/Welders Theory, Plating Structural & Steelwork Drawings, Mathematics and Engineering Science.
- Electrician: Electrical Trade Theory, Electrotechnology/Electrotechnics and Industrial Electronics, or Engineering Drawings, Mathematics and Engineering Science.
- Diesel Mechanic: Diesel/Motor Trade Theory, Engineering Drawings, Mathematics and Engineering Science.
- Auto Electrician: Motor Electrical Trade Theory, Industrial Electronics, Mathematics and Engineering Science.
