Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience.
- Computer literate, including MS Office.
- Sound numerical skills.
- Strong command of the English language.

- Reliable transport and/or residence close to the store.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional customer service in accordance with Dis-Chem policies and procedures.
- Establish professional relationships with customers.
- Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
- Maintain the required customer turnover hourly rate.
- Stay informed about current sales, promotions and merchandise.
- Process customer purchases accurately through the Dis-Chem operating system.
- Receive and process cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons and other accepted payment methods.
- Process loyalty cards and participating accelerator partner cards.
- Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to Dis-Chem procedures.
- Maintain the security of personal till codes and passwords.
- Ensure all outgoing stock, items and scripts are correctly scanned and paid for.
- Keep all money safely and securely inside the till.
- Handle daily takings confidentially.
- Process authorised merchandise exchanges and returns.
- Ensure line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor.
- Be alert to suspicious behaviour and report concerns to management.
- Assist customers with queries relating to store merchandise.
- Follow Dis-Chem security policies and procedures.
- Ensure customers and colleagues are not exposed to unnecessary risks.
- Follow Dis-Chem’s communication principles and standard operating procedures.
