Purpose of the Job

The purpose of the Artisan Millwright Learnerships is to train and develop learners into qualified Millwright artisans. Successful candidates will gain the technical knowledge, practical skills, and workplace discipline required to meet national artisan standards while contributing to Sasol’s maintenance and operational excellence.

Requirements

To be considered for the Artisan Millwright Learnerships, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Completed Matric, N3, or equivalent qualification
  • Pass in Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
  • 0–1 year relevant experience (experience is advantageous but not required)
  • Willingness to undergo formal artisan training
  • Ability to work in an industrial or mining environment
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and learning

  • Complying with safety management systems such as IMS and MBO
  • Applying emergency procedures and safety protocols
  • Conducting hazard identification and task risk assessments
  • Participating in daily toolbox talks and morning meetings
  • Providing regular feedback to supervisors on work progress
  • Supporting root cause analyses and risk assessments
  • Maintaining housekeeping and waste disposal standards
  • Participating in performance appraisals and personal development planning
  • Assisting in the development of work instructions
  • Supporting maintenance strategy and plant sustainability
  • Conducting physical inspections to improve plant reliability
  • Capturing correct maintenance history for renewals and upgrades
