Minimum Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances as permitted.
  • Assisting with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Unpacking and merchandising dispensary stock.
  • Cleaning dispensary and OTC shelves.
  • Learning to accurately interpret prescriptions.
  • Working professionally and responsibly within South African pharmaceutical requirements.
  • Accurately picking, packing and labelling medication.
  • Being aware of common dosages and important drug interactions.
  • Ensuring medication is checked and signed off by a pharmacist.
  • Assisting with stock control.
  • Maintaining clean and organised medicine shelves.
  • Monitoring medicine expiry dates.
  • Following up with patients regarding script tracking reports when requested.
  • Assisting with patient follow-up appointments.
  • Assisting with call-centre scripts and patient-service telephone calls.
  • Providing appropriate information to individuals to promote health.
  • Assisting with scheme authorisations for chronic, HIV/AIDS and oncology medication.
  • Reporting low or out-of-stock items to the Dispensary Manager.
  • Reporting stock errors to the Dispensary Manager.
  • Receiving dispensary stock according to company procedures.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
