Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that products are fully stocked and neatly displayed
  • Checking products for expiry dates
  • Restocking merchandise when required
  • Following up on customer out-of-stock queries
  • Properly storing stock received from deliveries or the storeroom
  • Maintaining accurate product labels and pricing
  • Reporting price discrepancies to management
  • Keeping the storeroom clean and organised
  • Learning about new products to better assist customers
  • Assisting with back-shopping
  • Handling merchandise carefully to prevent losses
  • Processing customer purchases and payments
  • Accepting cash, cards, vouchers, coupons and other approved payment methods
  • Processing customer returns and exchanges when authorised
  • Processing loyalty cards
  • Following cash-handling and drop-safe procedures
  • Ensuring price changes and line voids are properly authorised
  • Maintaining accurate cash flow
  • Rotating stock according to Dis-Chem procedures
  • Reporting low, damaged, expired and out-of-stock products
  • Assisting with stock counts and stocktaking
  • Loading and off-loading stock when required
  • Breaking down boxes and disposing of them correctly
  • Providing friendly and professional customer service
  • Reporting customer compliments and complaints
  • Assisting with training new and existing team members
  • Ensuring outgoing stock and items are correctly scanned and paid for
  • Reporting suspicious behaviour to management
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards
