Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Engineering Learnerships, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
- Full N2 qualifications with all four required subjects:
- Engineering Mathematics.
- Engineering Science.
- N2 Rigging Trade Theory.
- Engineering Drawing.
- Applicants must be residents of one of the South Deep host communities.
- Must be declared medically fit for the position and working environment.
- Must pass the required Heat Tolerance Screening test.
- Must be willing to undergo other assessments required to determine suitability for employment.

- Undergo technical training prescribed by the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).
- Complete short courses required by the mine during the learnership.

- Maintain consistent performance throughout the programme.
- Participate in developmental discussions.
- Seek feedback to support personal and professional development.
- Follow the company’s conditions of employment, policies and code of conduct.
- Comply with all applicable mine health and safety rules and regulations.
- Promote teamwork and contribute effectively as a team member.
- Wear all prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) at the mine and training centre.
