ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – GLOBELEQ  EDUCATIONAL TRUST

The Globeleq Educational Trust, founded in 2016, is dedicated to promoting black economic empowerment and expanding educational opportunities in South Africa.

By breaking down barriers to education, offering financial assistance, and providing mentorship, the Trust supports students in reaching their academic aspirations. Its mission is to nurture a new generation of South African leaders, driving a more inclusive and prosperous future.

ABOUT THE GLOBELEQ BURSARY – FIELDS COVERED

The Globeleq Education Trust is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2025 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)-related fields.

All applicants will receive a confirmation email after their application has been received. Applicants will be notified if their application was unsuccessful. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GLOBELEQ BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying full-time, preferably within a STEM-related field (Higher Certificate, Diploma, Degrees or equivalent NQF-rated qualification)
  • You must be studying or registered to study at a recognised and accredited higher education institution in South Africa
  • You must be interested in renewable energy
  • You must be unemployed (not working full-time or part-time in 2025) and must not have worked full-time before 2025

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE GLOBELEQ BURSARY

Applications must be submitted online at: Globeleq Education Trust Bursary Application 2025

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric term 2 report, if currently in Matric (with school stamp)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Current student: latest/ June 2024 Official Academic Transcripts (or official institution report) (certified copy)
  • Current student: 2024 official Proof of Registration at university (official document from university)
  • 2025 acceptance letter from an accredited institution
  • Curriculum Vitae stating your work experience and background (lack of experience will not disadvantage your application)
  • Statement briefly explaining why you chose your particular field of study, how you plan to use your qualification after graduation and how the bursary provider will benefit by funding you (1-2 pages)
  • Recommendation letter from someone who can attest to your personal character and/or your academic performance, with their contact details, NOT a family member or friend (1 page) (read our article on writing a recommendation letter for a bursary/ scholarship application)
  • Parents or guardians ID documents or death certificates (certified copy)
  • Parents or guardians proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed, SASSA grant if applicable)
  • Students under 18: a completed and signed consent form by your parent or legal guardian
  • Students under 18: parents or guardians ID documents (certified copies)
  • If disabled: Department of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form AND a Doctors’ Letter
  • If funded by another bursary/ NSFAS: bursary agreement/ letter/ offer

Note: all certified documents must be less than 3 months old.

12 December 2024 (at 12:00 midday).
(Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted – please apply before the closing date to ensure your application is considered.)
