Requirements
Applicants must meet the following:
- Completed Matric / Grade 12
- Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Built Environment
- No previous experience needed
- Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Teams)
- Willingness to learn within a mill environment
- Responsible, safety-conscious, and able to work with teams
Knowledge & Skills Needed

What You Will Do
As part of Sappi’s Civil Engineering Internships, your daily exposure will include:
- Conducting inspections on buildings, walkways, roads, and water channels
- Assisting with scheduling and planning civil repair projects
- Helping calculate and prepare quantities for materials
- Monitoring contractor performance during maintenance activities
- Ensuring contractors follow safety rules and work procedures
- Supporting civil supervisors with daily mill maintenance tasks
- Coordinating with local supplier development contractors
- Learning practical engineering processes through real on-site work
