Requirements

  • Welding or general handyman courses will be an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assisting artisans with maintenance and technical tasks
  • Supporting the installation and inspection of remote observation sites
  • Repairing and maintaining structures that house meteorological instruments, including masts and stands
  • Performing terrain maintenance such as weeding, grass cutting, and litter removal
  • Cleaning indoor office facilities, including restrooms when required
  • Carrying out basic building maintenance tasks
  • Monitoring, verifying, and reporting on assets and key infrastructure
  • Assisting with fleet management activities
  • Ensuring adequate stock levels for maintenance operations
  • Complying with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Participating in training, mentoring, and skills transfer initiatives
  • Supporting SAWS exhibitions, workshops, presentations, and public events
  • Assisting with school visits and outreach programmes
  • Actively seeking opportunities to improve skills and add value to operations
