The programme leads to an NQF Level 3 Intermediate Occupational Certificate: Food and Beverage Packaging Operator and combines theoretical learning with practical workplace experience. Successful learners will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the programme.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Unemployed Learnerships, applicants must:

Key Responsibilities

Successful learners will be responsible for:

  • Preparing ingredients according to product recipes and supervisor instructions.
  • Working with ingredients such as meats, vegetables, sauces and desserts.
  • Checking the quality of ingredients before use.
  • Weighing and measuring ingredients according to recipes.
  • Cutting and portioning ingredients as required.
  • Manually assembling meals according to prescribed recipes.
  • Working closely with Quality Control to ensure products contain all required ingredients.
  • Sealing, wrapping and sleeving completed products.
  • Informing supervisors or team leaders when equipment is not operating correctly.
  • Reporting when food supplies and other materials are running low.
  • Maintaining a sanitised and orderly kitchen environment.
  • Cleaning and sanitising work areas.
  • Cleaning equipment, utensils and dishes.
  • Cleaning food assembly areas.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping standards.
  • Completing theoretical learning requirements.
  • Participating in practical workplace training.
  • Following food safety, hygiene and production procedures.
